Liam Fox sad Emmerdale Finnish convention was cancelled

‘Emmerdale’s Liam Fox is disappointed the soap’s Finnish fan convention has been scrapped this year.

The 49-year-old actor is gutted his loyal fans from Finland – where the ITV soap has a huge following – cannot travel to the UK to meet some of the cast members, as the coronavirus pandemic has disrupted travel plans.

Appearing on ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Thursday (04.06.20), he revealed: "’Emmerdale’ is massive [in Finland]. We have a little get together every year where the Finnish fans pop over to Yorkshire and have a party in a room in a hotel, but obviously that’s not gonna happen this year."

Finnish fans decided to get together and travel over to the UK after Liam received a message from a viewer who had an uncanny resemblance to him, which left him "freaked" out.

He explained: "This guy’s sister got in touch with us to say happy birthday to him because he looked like me. And on my birthday he sent me a message, which freaked me out."

But it’s not the first time Liam has met his doppelganger, as eagle-eyed fans previously pointed out that he and 2019 ‘Great British Bake Off’ star Phil Thorne must have been "separated at birth".

He said: "I have Phil from ‘Bake Off’, and I know Phil now, and then I have another ‘brother’ in Finland. My dad must have been everywhere!"

What’s more, Liam is grateful to be going back to work after having several months off, but feels sorry for those actors who still don’t know when they can resume filming.

He added: "The people I feel sorry for are the actors who are not in soaps.

"I feel very lucky as an actor that I’ve got a job, because so many actors and people of all professions don’t know where they’re going. At the minute, we’ve got a job to go back too."
