Levi Roots asked to do Strictly Come Dancing

Levi Roots has been asked to do ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ twice in the past.
The ‘Dragon’s Den’ star – who shot into the limelight in 2007 when he attempted to sell his Reggae Reggae Sauce to the stone-faced billionaires with a catchy rap – has been eyed up numerous times by bosses of the ballroom and latin show but he has turned them down because he doesn’t think it’s the type of programme for a Rastafarian.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he said: "My family and friends say I should do Strictly and go into the jungle and do all these shows I’ve been offered. But the decision is mine, and I have to think, ‘Is that the way of the Rasta?’ And to me, it isn’t.
"I’m quite comfortable holding on to what I’ve got, and people seem to like me the way I am. I turned down all those things because it’s not the way of a Rastafarian."
However, the celebrity chef certainly doesn’t need to boost his profile in order to gain some more cash as he’s become of the show’s biggest success stories.
But he has admitted he has no plans to claim a seat in a den and start dishing out his own money, despite bosses asking him if he’d be interested in a Dragon role.
He said: "I’ve always said I don’t want to be a Dragon. There have been conversations and I have sat in the seat a couple of times. I love the age-old thing where you can give advice, you can be a mentor, you can help people get through that next door but you’re not only doing it because there’s something on the table for that. Being a Dragon is not the way of a Rasta – where you invest in somebody but you’re only looking for a profit."
