Lena Dunham wants Jack Antonoff to be "creative" when he pops the question.
The couple were recently rumoured to have got engaged after she was spotted wearing a band on her ring finger but while that is not the case, the 28-year-old actress revealed the fun. guitarist’s mother was even fooled by the speculation and had to call her son to check if he was set to tie the knot.
Lena – who started dating Jack in 2012 – said: "My boyfriend was like, ‘My mom called asking if we’re engaged?’ She has a Google Alert on him.
"I also just want to say, if we’re going to get engaged, we would be more creative than to do it on New Year’s Eve. We don’t want to be basic."
Lena’s fellow ‘Girls’ co-executive producer Jenni Konner revealed the confusion came because the star was wearing their matching friendship rings on her engagement finger, but her pal admitted she loved hearing the rumours.
She said "We have friendship rings. They’re a stack of three. We both wear them on that finger for some reason – that’s the finger they fit on – and those are our friendship rings.
"When they announced that she was wearing an engagement ring, I was like, ‘Yeah, to me!’ "
Lena added to PEOPLE magazine: "Yeah, we’re engaged to continue to work together for the rest of my life."
