Laurie Brett: EastEnders 30th anniversary eps aged me 10 years

Laurie Brett says EastEnders’ 30th anniversary special episodes "aged her 10 years".
The 50-year-old actress previously played Jane Beale on the BBC One soap, on and off from 2004 to 2017, and the former ‘Waterloo Road’ star admits that while it was a tough week to film, she loved being a part of the milestone episodes in February 2015.
She wrote on Twitter: "What an incredible week of telly.. aged me 10 years but great to be part of it X (sic)"
Laurie’s tweet came in response to ‘EastEnders’ writer Daran Little admitting he had "genuine surprise" when Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) returned from the dead during the special week of episodes.
He wrote: "EastEnders 30th anniversary – sat watching with cast and crew and we were all stunned when Kathy appeared from the dead. None of us had been told – great surprise (sic)"
Laurie departed ‘EastEnders’ in October 2017, and she is now part of the cast of play ‘Band of Gold’ alongside several soap favourites, including former ‘Coronation Street’ and ‘Emmerdale’ star Gaynor Faye, ex ‘Hollyoaks’ actor Kieron Richardson, and former ‘Corrie’ favourites Shayne Ward and Sacha Parkinson.
Rehearsals for the stage version of Kay Mellor’s TV drama began last week, and Laurie admits her brain was "totally fried" after the first week.
She wrote on Twitter: "Waiting for the train to my loved ones after first week of @BandOfGoldPlay rehearsals. Little brain totally fried but great first week!! So excited (sic)"
Away from the screen and stage, Laurie married her fiancé Dennis Longman in a secret ceremony in February.
Tamzin Outhwaite – who plays Mel Owen on ‘EastEnders’ – was at the bash and shared a sweet picture of the happily married couple on her Instagram story, captioning it: "Congratulations Laurie and Dan."
