Lauren Jauregui tests out new music on Uber drivers

Lauren Jauregui likes to get honest feedback on her music from Uber drivers.

The Fifth Harmony star is gearing up to release her debut solo album and she has revealed the best way to get a non-biased opinion of her songs is playing them to strangers who have no idea who she is.

She told PEOPLE: “I love getting a range of people’s opinion on s***.

“I’ll sometimes play s*** for an Uber driver.

“They’ll always be so honest because they have no idea who the f*** I am.

“They’ll literally be like, ‘Oh, this is really good songwriting, actually,’ or they’ll say whatever they say to me, but it’s a very genuine opinion. Thankfully, nothing too crazy bad, which is great.”

She added: “That’s why I know I’m not completely failing at my job because they do f*** with it a little bit.”

The 29-year-old star is in the final stages of the record – which includes the lead single Ego – telling the publication: “I have all my songs. They’re pretty much done. They still need to be mixed and mastered, and I still got to make some visuals.

“Your girl’s doing this independently, so it’s just piece by piece.”

The tracks were made between 2018 and this year.

Lauren said: “The latest song on this project, I wrote in February, and then the oldest song on this project, I wrote in 2018.”

Ego saw Lauren head in alternative direction, taking inspiration from the likes of Paramore, Fall Out Boy and Death Cab For Cutie, and fans can expect more songs in that style on the LP.

She teased: “Energetically, it’s the vein that I’m in.

“I’ve done a lot of evolving and growing over the past four years, and also, in this world that we’re living in, I’m very observant. I’m very outspoken, and it definitely is reflected in the music.”
