Lady Gaga unveils new single A-YO

Lady Gaga has unveiled her new single ‘A-YO’ from her eagerly-anticipated fifth studio LP ‘Joanne’.
The 30-year-old pop beauty is to drop the second song from her new record at 12pm [9am PST] on Tuesday (18.10.16).
Sharing the artwork on Instagram, in which she is topless and covers her face in an oversized camel-coloured hat, Gaga wrote: "A-YO out 9pm PST tomorrow! The next sneak peak into the world of #JOANNE !! #AYO #JoanneVibes #LadyGaga #newmusic (sic)"
Gaga – whose real name is Stefani Germanotta – sings on the track: "Can’t wait to rev you up faster than you say Ferrari … Tearin’ up the gravel, watching you unravel – now it’s a party."
And on the chorus, she belts out: "Light me up, I’m breathin’, mirror on the ceiling/A-YO, A-YO."
The ‘Poker Face’ singer says the song is inspired by country music legends including Johnny Cash but she insists she doesn’t consider herself to be a country artist.
Of her influences on the song, she told Rolling Stone magazine: "I have a general deep respect for all country musicians, but I myself am not a country musician. I’m just a musician period. I love all different kinds of music and this is just what I wrote.
"Everyone thinks of rock ‘n’ roll and country in different ways. Rock ‘n’ roll, country and blues – they all have babies. So I love Johnny Cash, I love Neil Young. I love Garth Brooks."
Meanwhile, Gaga recently admitted she finds it difficult to write music when she gets caught up in "negative thoughts".
‘Joanne’ is a tribute to her father’s sister, who died from lupus when she was just 19, and Gaga has explained she finds it hard to work when all she can think about is her "own trauma".
She said: "I get blocked by my own trauma sometimes.
"The darkness, the loop of negative thoughts on repeat, clamours and interferes with the music I hear in my head. When I’m making music, I can hear all the parts, all the instruments. I can hear what it should be."
‘Joanne’ – the follow-up to 2014’s ‘Artpop’ – is released on Friday (21.10.16).
