Lady Gaga admits bankruptcy during early career

Lady Gaga has revealed she was bankrupt during her ‘Monster’s Ball’ tour.

The ‘Applause’ singer admits she suffered financial difficulty after she invested her entire $3 million dollar fortune into staging at her concerts in a bid to launch her pop career back in 2009.

Gaga revealed: "I had $3 million dollars in the bank to my name and I threw it all in to make my stage. So I was bankrupt during the show. So I was bankrupt during the show."

The comments come as part of a trailer for documentary, ‘Who The F**k Is Arthur Fogel?’, a film which follows the Live Nation executive who Gaga was keen to help take her career to the next level.

She added: "I said, ‘Just let me do this’. ‘Let me just put it on the stage because I think if I can do this I can get Arthur Fogel’s attention’. And I did. I remember he called me and he said, ‘We want to do this’, And he got Live Nation to write me a $40 million check. It changed my life and the life of my whole family."

Meanwhile, Gaga came under fire for questionable spending through her Born This Way Foundation after accusations $1.85 million were used on expenses while only $5,000 was reportedly donated as a grant.

The star’s mother, Cynthia Germanotta, was forced to defend the charity of which she is president.

In a statement she said: Every dollar spent, directly serves Born This Way Foundation’s core mission of empowering youth."
