Lacey Turner is up for Best Serial Drama Performance at National Television Awards

EastEnders’ Lacey Turner and ‘Emmerdale’s Danny Miller will go head-to-head in the Serial Drama Performance category at this month’s National Television Awards.
The 28-year-old actress, who has been nominated for the same gong seven times – three of which she’s won – since 2005, has managed to wiggle her way into the shortlist again this year after impressing viewers with her devastating portrayal of her bolshie alter-ego Stacey Slater’s postpartum psychosis the past year and a half.
But the brunette beauty will have some stiff competition if she’s to nab the prize as Danny – who plays Aaron Dingle in the ITV soap – is also up for the trophy alongside his co-star Natalie J. Robb and ‘Coronation Street’s Jack P. Shepherd.
With those four stars up for an accolade for their impressive leading roles, it’s hardly surprising that ‘EastEnders’, ‘Emmerdale’ and ‘Coronation Street’ will compete for the the Best Serial Drama prize alongside Channel 4’s ‘Hollyoaks’.
And the soaps may be able to nab another gong in the Best Newcomer category as Duncan James, Faye Brookes, Lloyd Everitt and Tilly Keeper have made the list.
Bosses have introduced the Period Drama category this year as ‘Victoria’, ‘Poldark’, ‘Call the Midwife’, ‘Peaky Blinders’ and ‘Stranger Things’ go head-to-head.
Ant & Dec are up for the Best TV Presenters again but no doubt Mel & Sue, Gary Lineker, James Corden and Rylan Clark-Neal will attempt to knock them off their throne.
Len Goodman – who left ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ before Christmas – will be hoping to bag one more prize this year in the TV Judge category, while Simon Cowell, Mary Berry, David Walliams and Nicole Scherzinger will be nipping at his heels.
‘This Morning’ will be hoping to pick up the Best Live Magazine gong again but will have some stiff competition from ‘BBC Breakfast’, ‘Sunday Brunch’, ‘Loose Women’ and ‘The One Show’.
The Best Drama Performance will go to either Tom Hiddleston, Cillian Murphy, Sarah Lancashire or Jenna Coleman, while the Best Drama is between ‘Casualty’, ‘Cold Feet’, ‘The Night Manager’, ‘Happy Valley’ and ‘Game of Thrones’.
The National Television Awards will take place at The O2 London on January 25.
