Kym Marsh’s daughter has auditioned for ‘The Voice’.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actress has spoken out about her anxiety at daughter Emilie Cunliffe, 16, trying out for the BBC One singing contest.
She said: "I was so nervous all day. We were just on eggshells. I couldn’t sleep the night before and I couldn’t eat – Emilie was nervous."
Emilie – who is one of Kym’s two children from her previous relationship with Dave Cunliffe – will sing for judges Sir Tom Jones, will.i.am, Ricky Wilson and new addition Rita Ora when the show returns for its fourth series on Saturday (10.01.15).
And Kym – who had a successful music career with Hear’Say after winning talent show ‘Popstars’ in 2001 before becoming an actress – insists it was entirely her daughter’s decision.
The 38-year-old star – who also has son David, 18, with Dave and three-year-old daughter Polly with ex-husband Jamie Lomas – told The Sun newspaper: "This had to be one hundred million percent her choice.
"She couldn’t be going into a show like this unless it was.
"If I forced her, it would just come falling down on top of me, but this is all she ever wanted to do."
The brunette beauty – who is now engaged to personal trainer Dan Hooper – also claims Emilie was attracted to the format of the show because she has no interest in "cashing in" on her mother’s fame.
Kym added: "Emilie doesn’t like to mention me or my work. She has a different surname from mine too – she loves that.
"If people ever mention me to her she’s like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah, that’s my mum. Move on’. She’s determined to do this by herself.
"And she will – she gets that from me."
