Kym Marsh says her children would face "serious consequences" if they ever did "hippy crack".
The 38-year-old actress has spoken out after ‘EastEnders’ actress Lorna Fitzgerald was allegedly filmed inhaling nitrous oxide – also known as laughing gas or "hippy crack" – after a night out to insist her kids would be in big trouble if she ever found out they’d taken it.
She said: "I’d been unaware of ‘hippy crack’ until I read about a couple of celebs using it. I know it’s a legal high but if I caught my kids doing it there would be serious consequences. I really frown upon things like that as I’m very anti-drugs and luckily so are my kids. People say, ‘Yeah but alcohol blah blah blah!’ I get that, but I think alcohol in moderation is okay."
The ‘Coronation Street’ actress – who has children Emily and David from a previous relationship and daughter Polly with ex-husband Jamie Lomas – appeared to make a dig at the rival soap when she claimed she and all of her co-stars are very conscious of being seen as "role models" and are aware of what they do in public.
In her column for OK! magazine, Kym said: "I and the rest of the cast at ‘Coronation Street’ are always very conscious that we can be seen as role models and that people will judge us on how we behave in public. Everyone in the public eye has to have that at the back of their mind because the last thing you want to do is to set a bad example to others."
