Kym Marsh welcomes ‘inspirational’ Cassidy Little to Coronation Street

Kym Marsh has praised "inspirational" Cassidy Little after he joined ‘Coronation Street’.
The ‘Corrie’ actress – who plays Michelle Connor on the ITV soap – says the war veteran, who lost his right leg below the knee during a tour of Afghanistan in 2011, has been made "very welcome" on the ITV soap’s set.
She said: "He’s playing a Paralympic champion. I bumped into him in the green room and he seems like such a nice guy – he’s inspirational.
"It was a pleasure to meet him and he’s very welcome on set."
Kym also praised the former Royal Marine medic – who will play a Paralympic champion who acts as a mentor to Jack Webster (Kyran Bowes) after the character lost his leg when he was struck down with sepsis – for being so "positive" following his life-changing injury.
Writing in her OK! magazine column, she added: "He’s so positive and doesn’t let anything get him down.
"It’s wonderful that he’s moved into acting after something so awful happened to him."
Cassidy, 36, recently described the soap as "monumental" and said his alter-ego will aim to inspire Jack to "grab life by the horns".
He said: "This is not secret, secret stuff – if you’ve been following the storyline, you know that Jack got sepsis. He’s a young boy, and he had his leg amputated below the knee.
"I’ve come in as a military buddy of another character and kind of train Paralympic athletes, and I’ve come in as the guy who grabs life by the horns and shakes really hard, and then shakes really hard, and then tries to rub that attitude off a little bit, by proxy, onto Jack."
