Kym Marsh is "shocked" ‘Coronation Street’ is only up for one National Television Award.
The 38-year-old actress – who plays Michelle Connor on the soap – insists claims show bosses were "seething" at the snub are not accurate but she admitted she feels the show deserved more recognition.
She said: "According to a report, ‘Coronation Street’ bosses are seething over our lack of National TV Awards nominations, only being up for Best Serial Drama later this month.
"I wouldn’t say anyone is seething, but I am personally a little shocked. However, last year we took everything! It’s swings and roundabouts, no one’s crying into their tea in the Green Room about it…
"People think there’s more of a rivalry between soaps than there is – we do watch them and appreciate how hard everyone works."
Despite her shock, Kym insists awards don’t really matter.
She said: "Awards are nice, but day to day it’s about ratings and we’re a very consistent soap."
And the brunette star is confident the soap’s storylines will continue to win acclaim in the future.
She added to OK! magazine: "Although the Steve McDonald [Simon Gregson] depression storyline has been really well received, it was probably a bit late for the voting, so maybe it will get something another time."
