Kurt Cobain’s daughter will executive produce a new documentary about the late rocker.
The HBO film, ‘Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck’ is the first to be fully authorised and made with the co-operation of the family of the Nirvana frontman – who committed suicide in 1994 – including 22-year-old Frances Bean, his child with wife Courtney Love.
Director Brett Morgen and his team began working on the project eight years ago and were given access to the ‘All Apologies’ star’s entire personal and family archives, meaning the documentary will boast performance footage along with unheard songs and never-before-seen home movies, recordings, artwork, photography, journals, demos and songbooks.
Brett said in a statement: "Once I stepped into Kurt’s archive, I discovered over 200 hours of unreleased music and audio, a vast array of art projects (oil paintings, sculptures), countless hours of never-before-seen home movies, and over 4,000 pages of writings that together help paint an intimate portrait of an artist who rarely revealed himself to the media."
The documentary doesn’t yet have a definite release date but will come out through HBO Documentary Films and Universal Pictures some time next year.
The filmmaker has previously said the project would feature "a mix of animation and live action."
