Kieron Richardson wants Hollyoaks pub explosion back on air

Kieron Richardson would love ‘Hollyoaks Favourites’ to revisit the Dog in the Pond pub explosion.
The 34-year-old actor – who has played Ste Hay on the Channel 4 soap since 2006 – will be introducing E4’s spin-off show presenting classic episodes as bosses look to adapt to a reduced schedule amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Opening up on episodes he’d like to see on air again, he told Digital Spy: "One of my personal favourites, which I’m not even in, is the pub exploding nearly 15 years ago now.
"The episode started with five body bags on the floor. I’d only just got the job myself back then, but I felt from that episode on, it was like a new era of ‘Hollyoaks’ where everyone started talking about it again.
"Another favourite of mine is the Brendan and the teacup episode – I think die-hard fans will know which episode I’m on about there!
"I also love anything with Clare Devine in it."
The soap star also revealed a lot of fans have been calling for evil Brendan Brady (Emmett J. Scanlan) to be back on screen.
He added: "The first few episodes are a celebration of the characters that are still in the show now.
"Even though they’re a back catalogue of episodes, they feature the cast members that are still in ‘Hollyoaks’.
"But the longer it goes on, the further we’ll go back into the episodes. I’ve had a lot of messages about this and I’m sure there’ll be a Brendan episode in there somewhere…"
Starting tonight (02.04.20), the soap will look back to classic moments on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 7pm.
In a statement, the soap previously explained its decision and the TV schedule over the coming weeks.
The show confirmed: "From Monday 30th March, we will be reducing the number of our weekly new episodes from five down to three, which will air Monday to Wednesday.
"To make sure we stay on air every week night, fans can look forward to extra special episodes every Thursday and Friday on E4, as we begin a brand new series of ‘Hollyoaks Favourites’.
"Introduced by Kieron Richardson and Jorgie Porter, this series will give viewers a chance to revisit some of our biggest episodes, from weddings, bust-ups, heartbreaks and some of our biggest and best stunts."
