Kevin Simm recruits Liberty X bandmates

Kevin Simm has called on his former Liberty X bandmates to help with his solo album.
The 35-year-old singer – who won ‘The Voice’ on Saturday (09.04.16) – has recruited former bandmate Kelli Young’s husband, songwriter Ian James, to help him with his new LP.
He said: "There’s someone close to home I will be working with on my album – Kelli’s husband Ian James, who is a very successful songwriter for people such as James Morrison.
"Would Kelli want to do backing vocals for my album? I don’t think so. But they have all been so supportive of me throughout."
And Kevin is planning to go for a more rockier sound on his upcoming album.
He added: "It’s weird, I’ve always seen myself as a soul singer too, but watching myself back, I was more of a rocker on ‘The Voice’. I love the feel of being in a rock band and building tracks up from scratch – so I will try that in the studio for my album."
During his time away from the spotlight, the ‘Just A Little’ hitmaker performed a number of small gigs but missed having a live band to accompany him.
He told the Daily Star newspaper: "You have to pay a live band and when you’re not earning the big bucks you need that money for your family."
