Kevin Clifton was ‘a mess’ before Strictly Come Dancing singing debut

Kevin Clifton was "a mess all week" before singing on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 37-year-old star recently belted out a ‘Hello, Dolly’ duet with fellow pro Anton Du Beke as part of the opening performance for Musicals Week, and he admitted he can be his "own worst enemy" at times.
He’s quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column as saying: "Sometimes I can be a complete mess in my head, my own worst enemy. I was a mess all week."
And Kevin – who won the Glitterball Trophy on ‘Strictly’ last year with now-girlfriend Stacey Dooley – revealed he even contacted his vocal coach to arrange a last minute session to help calm his nerves.
He added: "I stayed behind on Friday and I was really nervous, so I called my vocal coach and asked her to come to the studio to prepare and give me breathing exercises to do. She was wicked."
Kevin is no stranger to singing, having appeared as Stacee Jaxx in hit stage show ‘Rock of Ages’ earlier this year.
And this week he announced that in 2020 he will be starring as lead character Robbie Hart in ‘The Wedding Singer’ musical – based on the 1998 Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore movie of the same name – from January 30 to March 1 at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre.
The production features music from the Tony Award-nominated composer Matthew Sklar (‘Elf the Musical’) and lyrics by Chad Begeulin.
Sharing a poster unveiling the exciting news, Kevin simply wrote: "ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!! Delighted to announce I will be performing in the musical The Wedding Singer as Robbie Hart ! (sic)"
