Kevin Clifton nearly U-turned on Strictly decision

Kevin Clifton nearly U-turned on his decision to quit ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.

The 37-year-old professional dancer announced his departure from the BBC Latin and ballroom show back in March after seven years to "focus on other areas of [his] life and career", but he has since considered he may have made a mistake.

He is quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column as saying: "There were a couple of conversations about it, like, ‘Is it worth talking about it?’ But then I thought, ‘I’ve just made this big announcement. I don’t want to look like an idiot.’

"I like doing different things and I don’t want to get in a moment where I’m doing the same thing for the sake of it because it’s perceived to be successful.

"When I was having the conversations with ‘Strictly’ about when is the right time for me to make this decision, I am thinking about it this year but maybe not, maybe in another year or two, I don’t know. We’re having a constant conversation, and at the moment I feel I’ve pretty much done everything there is to do on the show."

This comes after Kevin recently admitted he would "never say never" to a ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ return.

While he insisted he would not be rushing back to the programme after his live show with his sister Joanne Clifton was postponed due to coronavirus, he hasn’t ruled out returning one day.

He said: "I can’t leave my sister high and dry, and go back on ‘Strictly’ but I don’t know. Never say never.

"I’ve made that decision [to leave ‘Strictly’] and it would feel weird if I suddenly went back again."
