Kevin Bacon is to star in ‘Jungle’.
The 56-year-old actor will appear in the survival drama, which is based on the true story of Yossi Ghinsberg, an adventurer who found himself lost in the Amazon rainforest for three weeks in the early 1980s, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film will be directed by ‘Wolf Creek’s Greg McLean – who Kevin has worked with before in supernatural thriller ‘6 Miranda Drive’ – and produced by Arclight Films, after the Spierig brothers and See-Saw Films chose not to take the film past its initial development stage.
Screenwriter Justin Monjo will write the script based on Yossi’s 2005 memoirs and a Discovery Channel documentary drama called ‘I Shouldn’t Be Alive’.
Gary Hamilton, Dana Lustig, Mike Gabrawy and Mark Lazarus will produce the movie and it will be funded by Screen Australia after it was chosen as one of 11 projects to receive $9.2 million worth of financing from the agency.
It has not yet been confirmed who Kevin will play in the film but some reports suggest that he will star as the "complex, dangerous and alluring" Karl, Yossi’s Austrian guide.
Shooting is scheduled to begin in the new year in Australia and Colombia, with a release date yet to be confirmed.
