Kesha’s lawyers file appeal against judge ruling

Kesha’s lawyers claim forcing her to work with Dr. Luke is like "slavery".
The ‘Tik Tok’ hitmaker – who is currently in the midst of a legal battle with Sony Music to be released from her record contract after she alleged she was sexually assaulted by the producer – and her legal team have appealed against a Manhattan judge’s decision for her to remain under contract.
In papers submitted to the court, Kesha’s lawyers write: "The Court’s ruling requiring Kesha to work for Gottwald’s companies, purportedly without his involvement, does just that. As the Court itself recognised, ‘It’s slavery.’ You can’t do that.
"Kesha submitted affidavits by individuals with over 100 years of collective personal experience in the music industry, each of whom attested to the fact that a young pop star’s fame will fade quickly, and permanently, due to a loss of momentum."
Meanwhile, through her battle, Kesha has received support from a number of big stars include Taylor Swift, Adele and Ariana Grande.
The ‘Break Free’ singer said previously: "I love Kesha. I worked with her when I was a lot younger. We’ve been friends, I support her, regardless of what’s going on.
"The incredible double standards that we [women] face on a daily basis, in the industry and just in the world, it’s shocking. I would be so amused, and pardon me if this comes across as sexist, but I don’t think a male artist would be in this position right now. Sorry."
