Kerry Washington has dance parties with her daughter.
The ‘Scandal’ actress loves grooving around the house with 16-month-old Isabelle – her first child with husband Nnamdi Asomugha – to the youngster’s favourite songs.
She said: "We’re firm believers in at-home dance parties. She has this little Apple radio and for a while our favourite song was ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams, but she now also likes ‘Uptown Funk’ by Bruno Mars."
The 38-year-old actress is keen for her daughter to grow up to be comfortable in her own skin and doesn’t want her to have other people’s ideas of beauty imposed on her.
She said: "I’ll tell her [when she’s older] that it’s important to not put the value of beauty in other people’s hands.
"You have to nurture a relationship with yourself that makes you feel beautiful and not give that power to anyone else."
Though she is comfortable with herself, the ‘Django Unchained’ actress found she felt "pressure" to lose weight after her daughter was born.
She told Red magazine: "I remember after my daughter was born thinking there was a lot of pressure about how quickly you could lose the baby weight or not.
"It’s like your duchess, Kate. You know, the minute her kids are born we all expect her to be outside the hospital with a perfect blow dry and for her to look effortlessly flawless. There’s definitely still a pressure there."
