Kelly Clarkson gave up royalties to disassociate herself from Dr. Luke

Kelly Clarkson turned down "millions" in songwriting royalties after she turned down a writer’s credit on a hit song ‘My Life Would Suck Without You’ because she didn’t want to be associated with Dr. Luke.
The ‘American Idol’ winner snubbed the offer to share a writing credit on the 2009 number one single which was co-created by her, Max Martin, Claude Kelly and Dr. Luke – real name Lukasz Gottwald.
In 2014, Kesha accused Dr. Luke of sexual assault and emotionally abusing her for years but he has always vehemently denied the claims.
Kelly has made no similar allegations against Dr. Luke but she did not enjoy working with him and so made a choice to be left off the track’s notes.
Speaking about her experiences on her old record label RCA, on US radio station Z100 on Wednesday (13.09.17), she said: "They were like, ‘Well, you changed the song.’ And I was like, ‘I don’t want my name near his. I want to pretend this didn’t happen in my life and I want to forget it … There’s hundreds of thousands of dollars gone because of that, maybe millions. That song was huge."
Kelly first met Dr. Luke when they worked on her 2004 hits ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’ and ‘Behind These Hazel Eyes’ together, and has previously said he was "difficult to work with" and "kind of demeaning".
Kelly’s decision to give up huge amounts of cash wasn’t difficult for her because money and fame isn’t as important to her as her dignity.
She added: "I asked not to work with Dr. Luke just because I had not a good experience with him … The guy is super-talented, I’m not negating that. I was making a point to the people working with me, going, ‘This is how much I didn’t want to do this.’ I don’t care about the money. I don’t care about, oh, ‘You’re going to be the most famous person ever if you do this.’ That’s not what holds weight in my life. I generally love everyone. You have to really be a special kind of … for me not to like you."
Making it clear she was making any accusations similar to those made by Kesha, Kelly stated: "He didn’t do anything like that with me."
