Kelle Bryan films in her own world

Kelle Bryan "goes into [her] own world" when she has to film an intense scene.
The former Eternal singer’s ‘Hollyoaks’ alter ego, Martine Deveraux, is set for some emotional scenes this week when she sits down for a heart-to-heart with her long-lost son Toby Faroe (Bobby Gordon) and though there was extra "pressure" on the pair as showrunner Bryan Kirkwood made a rare appearance during filming, she did her best to tune it out.
She said: "It was really funny because our executive producer Bryan Kirkwood came down to set to watch some of the filming and he doesn’t usually do that! He was on set when I was filming one of the more emotional meltdown scenes, so I was like: ‘No pressure!’
"But it was fine. When I’m shooting that kind of scene, I tend to just go into my own world. I was really excited and nervous as well, because I wanted to get it right after so much time, effort and planning had gone into it.
"It all just came out, because I’d been holding it in for so long and it was the same for Martine as a character."
But Kelle was "so excited" to film the scenes as the reveal of Toby’s true identity has been such a long time in the making.
She told Digital Spy: "I was so excited. As a team, we’ve been working on this plot for such a long time. We’ve dedicated a lot of time and research to it, as we wanted to make sure that we got it right. To then finally get to shoot it was amazing!"
The 44-year-old star teased that Martine will "go into shock" when she finds out the truth about Toby’s upbringing.
She said: "Martine thought she was doing the right thing as a parent. She was brought up in a strict family, where it was frowned upon to be pregnant out of wedlock at the age of 17.
"But what’s even worse for her is hearing what Toby’s experience was. She was able to pacify herself by thinking that Toby had a better life and everything was great. Martine is about to learn that wasn’t what happened at all.
"What Martine discovers is devastating and she goes into visible shock when she hears that news."
