Kele Okereke thinks same sex couples make great parents.

Kele Okereke thinks same sex couples make great parents.
The Bloc Party frontman and his boyfriend of almost 10 years became fathers in 2016 to a daughter and he knows that gay couples can provide as much love as a traditional family setup.
And Kele has urged any same sex parents confronted with criticism or negativity to ignore it.
In an interview with this week’s Pride issue of ShortList magazine, the 36-year-old singer said: "I don’t feel it’s my role to explain myself to people or explain how I live my life. There will be some people who don’t get it. There are always going to be people that will have a problem with you and you don’t have to go round appeasing them.
"You just have to do you in the best way you can. That’s what I’m going to instill in my daughter."
The British musician became a father via surrogacy in the US and it is a decision he is proud to have made.
He added: "I’m not going to be glib; I know that the path my partner and I have taken to fatherhood isn’t the most traditional path for gay men living in the city. But I’ve never been afraid to do things that aren’t traditional."
The ‘Two More Years’ hitmaker has also spoken of how lucky he feels to have been born at a time when homosexuality is more accepted by society and at a time when the government is doing everything it can to help the LGBTQ community.
He said: "I’m just thankful that I’m living in a time where it’s possible.
"We recently watched ‘A Very English Scandal’. Both me and my partner were thinking how lucky we are that we weren’t around then. It was only in the Sixties, but then there’s been so much progress since then. As a gay man I would have faced imprisonment not so long ago, and then the position I’m in now is something that I cannot take for granted."
