Katya Jones feels ‘safe’ with ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ partner Joe McFadden

Katya Jones "feels safe" with her ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ partner Joe McFadden.
The 24-year-old professional dancer has been paired with the ‘Holby City’ hunk on the current series of the BBC Latin and ballroom dance competition, and after having a disastrous time last year with former Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls, Katya thinks her chances of holding the glitterball trophy have greatly improved.
She told The Sun newspaper: "Joe is already lifting me. I didn’t introduce lifts with Ed until much later. I feel safe in his hands. He’s promised he won’t drop me."
And 41-year-old Joe recently admitted that he too feels safe in the arms of Katya, as he credits her for doing "amazing things" with the 50-year-old politician last year.
He said recently: "Katya did such amazing things with Ed last year so I feel I’m in really safe hands. She is a really great teacher. She’s quite a task master and we’d done the routine by day two. She’s quite strict but it’s a nice blend of strictness and fun."
Joe’s main ambition on the show is to last until his birthday on October 9, and said he just doesn’t want to be "terrible".
He said: "Katya keeps telling me I have to have an ambition about the show but really I just don’t want to be awful. That’s my ambition at the moment. I just don’t want to be terrible."
Meanwhile, before taking to the stage last week for his impressive jive, Joe admitted the dance was an "ambitious" one to start with, but hoped he could prove his has "rhythm".
He said: "It’s quite an ambitious first dance and it’s quite a fast song. Jive is one of the more difficult dances I can imagine so I’m quite glad to get it done now as you get two weeks for the first dance, while every other week it’s only one week to learn it.
"I haven’t had any formal dance training but I do enjoy a dance, jumping about at parties and weddings. I feel I have rhythm. Whether other people wold agree with me is another thing. I suppose I’m going to find out."
Joe’s jive ultimately scored him an impressive 29 out of 40, and Saturday’s (30.09.17) tango scored him 22, putting him fifth on the leaderboard.
