Katy Perry’s ‘sexual independence’ explored on new LP

Katy Perry’s "sexual independence" will be conveyed on her new album.
The 32-year-old pop beauty – who is dating British actor Orlando Bloom – has just released lead single ‘Chained to the Rhythm’ from her upcoming fifth studio album and has teased she is about to get personal about her love life and explore her new found confidence she’s found in her 30s.
She professed: "There’s like a confidence that you get, a clarity … and I think that’s going to be translating into my music. There’s like a beautiful independence, a sexual independence, like an identity. You know all the ladies in their thirties that are hearing this they’re like, ‘yeah yeah yeah’, I totally, I feel you, and so all that’s being translated into the music."
It’s been four years since Katy wrote her last album ‘Prism’ back in 2012, but she is embracing her return.
Speaking to Roman Kemp on Capital radio station, she said: "It’s like the start of a new era for me and this is like, one of the first interviews I’ve done being back I guess, I never really left but people love this idea that I like, left and came back and like, it’s my big return but I was like, I was just here! I was just, like, grocery shopping!"
However, the ‘Dark Horse’ hitmaker isn’t in a rush to release her new LP.
She explained: "I’m slowly going to put it out. So I’ve got lots of new material and I’m very excited and I love the reception, and I think, I guess, I’m just striving for more consciousness than ever and I’m calling this era ‘purposeful pop’."
To hear Katy Perry’s first UK interview in three years in full, tune into The Capital Evening Show with Roman Kemp tonight from 7pm. #KatyOnCapital
