Katy Perry’s new LP will be different from Rise

Katy Perry has teased that her new album will be different from her latest single ‘Rise’.
The 31-year-old pop beauty revealed she has been "taking time" on her follow-up to 2013’s ‘Prism’ and explained that she decided to release the track – which is the anthem for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio – so her fans would have something before she releases her fifth LP.
Talking about the track, she said: "I’ve been taking my time making this record and I just wanted to have a bridge of something whether I was thinking about doing something for a film or something like this and this seemed so obvious and such a perfect fit."
The ‘Roar’ hitmaker is still remaining tight-lipped when it comes to what we can expect from her next record, but she hopes it will be powerful enough to "define itself" when it’s released.
In an interview with Mashable, she said: "It’s too soon to define it. I want to let the music define itself when it comes out."
Meanwhile, Katy – who is dating Orlando Bloom – has admitted ‘Rise’ was best suited to the Olympics and the "spirit of the athletes", but is not what she intended for her next album.
She explained: "I would never necessarily go with this type of song as the first single in the middle of summer.
"It wasn’t obvious as something I would go with for the next record, but it seemed to match the spirit of the athletes."
Katy had the song laying around half written for years before the Olympics and just felt it was the right time to get it out.
She added:"[It’s] a song that I have had swirling around in me.
"It’s a little bit like the story of the phoenix, about overcoming… rising up again or finding that inner strength again and again, that’s a lifelong theme for me."
"Years ago I had tried to write it but it didn’t work, it didn’t come out right. And when the Olympics approached us it was already half written, and it was one of the first songs that I have written in this next batch, so I pulled it out."
