Katy Perry has hinted at being suicidal following her divorce from Russell Brand.
The 30-year-old ‘Prism’ singer married the comedian, 39, in October 2010 before splitting in December 2011, and now Katy has revealed the full extent of her depression during the aftermath of their divorce.
She shared: "It was sad and there were thoughts, but there were never actions, thankfully.
"Sometimes you can be blinded by your extreme emotion."
Talking about her emotional song ‘By The Grace Of God’, she told Australia’s ‘The Project’ yesterday (10.11.14): "[It] is the first song that I wrote coming to make this record, when I was in a different place, I was in a darker place.
"You always feel like you’re the only one going through that. Well then comes along a song that speaks to you, that makes you feel like, ‘Gosh, I can get through this. If she can get through this, I can get through this.’"
In the past, Katy – who has since dated John Mayer and is rumoured to be dating Diplo – has told Billboard magazine how her song ‘Prism’ also exposed how vulnerable she was feeling post-divorce.
She told the mag: "That song is evident of how tough it really was at a certain point. I asked myself, ‘Do I want to endure? Should I continue living?’ All the songs are real-life moments.
"I can only write autobiographically. I put all the evidence in the music.
"I tell my fans if they want to know the real truth about stuff, just listen to the songs."
