Katie McGlynn turned to Lisa Riley for career advice

Katie McGlynn turned to Lisa Riley and Catherine Tyldesley for advice about leaving ‘Coronation Street’.
The former ‘Corrie’ actress departed the ITV soap in October after six years of playing Sinead Osbourne, and she asked ‘Emmerdale’ star Lisa – who she starred alongside in school drama ‘Waterloo Road’ – and ex-cobbles star Catherine (Eva Price) for some words of wisdom about leaving a serial drama.
She said: "I have asked a few people and they said, ‘Trust your gut and what you want to do.’
"Which is what I’m going to do – and get out there and meet people, get working with different people and get to know everyone.
"I spoke to Lisa Riley – I worked with her on ‘Waterloo Road’. When she left ‘Emmerdale’ she was only 25.
"She was in it for quite a long time and I love her career and what she’s doing in between.
"I’ve also spoken to Catherine Tyldesley and she’s done brilliantly after leaving ‘Corrie’."
Catherine has gone on to star in several TV shows and take part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ since leaving Weatherfield, but Katie admitted she wants to concentrate on acting before appearing in a reality show.
She added to new! magazine: "I think there’s a lot of stigma when you’re an actor who goes on a reality show, so I’m not sure what would happen afterwards – but I’d never say never.
"But for this year I’m totally focusing on acting."
The 26-year-old actress recently admitted she would be up for appearing in another soap – but not straight away.
She said: "It totally depends on what comes, really. I wouldn’t want to straight away, but in the years to come if something came up – you never what’s going to happen.
"Yeah, definitely. I think soaps tend to get a bad reputation, but I think they’re brilliant – so much realness, the audience that watch it in their front room every night. They’re a great place to work."
