Katie McGlynn ‘heart-broken’ for Coronation Street

Katie McGlynn is "heart-broken" for her ‘Coronation Street’ character after the cobbles favourite was told she has just four months to live.
The ‘Corrie’ star’s alter-ego Sinead Tinker is suffering from cervical cancer, and in last night’s (11.09.19) episodes the character was given the horrific news that the disease has spread to her lymph nodes and liver and is now terminal.
Following the eps, Katie wrote on Twitter: "My heart is breaking for Daniel & Sinead @itvcorrie
…thank you so much for every single message about tonight’s episodes! I’m so proud that we’re shining a light on cervical cancer! Myself, @Rob_Mallard
and the cast/crew have poured our everything into this storyline #Corrie (sic)"
The former ‘Waterloo Road’ star also thanked director Mickey Jones for helming her latest episodes.
She wrote: "And a special thank you to our wonderful director @m1ckeyjoe
for being brilliant with these episodes (sic)"
Earlier this month, Katie confirmed she is to depart ‘Corrie’ after nearly seven years on the soap.
She wrote: "After nearly 7 wonderful years playing Sinead Tinker, my time on the cobbles is coming to an end. I feel so privileged & honoured to have been a part of @itvcorrie
. I’ve honestly enjoyed every single second working alongside a BRILLIANT cast & crew who go above and beyond… (sic)"
Katie also admitted Sinead and her husband Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) will be left "broken" and in "disbelief" about her character’s cancer news.
She said: "Daniel and Sinead are just broken. We just tried to play it with as much realism as we could. They’re both in disbelief.
"Sinead doesn’t understand. She just wants to be a mum to Bertie. She wants to know how long she’s got left. They’re both completely devastated and in shock, and all the emotion just comes pouring out."
