Kathleen Kennedy hints at female Star Wars director

LucasFilm has "every intention" of hiring female filmmakers for ‘Star Wars’ movies.
Kathleen Kennedy, who is the chief of the production company, has insisted they are on the lookout for the right directors for future projects and wouldn’t turn down a woman if she had the correct credentials to do the job.
During a press conference in San Francisco to promote new movie ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’, she said: "I, as you can imagine, have every intention of giving somebody an opportunity.
"So, if somebody actually moves through the process of making movies and wants to make a ‘Star Wars’ movie, and shows that they have actually stepped into the role on that level, of course we are going to consider a woman.
"That goes without saying."
This comes after Kennedy was slammed for appearing to say she didn’t think there were any female directors with enough experience to helm a ‘Star Wars’ movie.
She recently said: "We want to make sure that when we bring a female director in to do ‘Star Wars’ they’re set up for success.
"They’re gigantic films, and you can’t come into them with essentially no experience.
"We want to really start to focus in on people we would love to work with and see what kinds of things they’re doing to progress up that ladder now, and then pull them in when the time is right."
‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ is helmed by Gareth Edwards, while last year’s ‘Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens’ was directed by J.J. Abrams, and next year’s ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ will be made by Rian Johnson.
