Kate Beckinsale’s Underworld sequel is delayed

Kate Beckinsale’s ‘Underworld’ sequel has been delayed by three months.
The film originally had a pre-Halloween release date of October 14, 2016, but that has now been put back to January 6, 2017.
‘Underworld: Blood Wars’ is the fifth installment in the vampires versus werewolf franchise, the first of which appeared in 2003.
Beckinsale plays Selene, a vampire who kills werewolves after they allegedly slaughtered her family.
There has been no explanation for the altered date, but the change does now mean that the movie will be going up against Harvey Weinstein’s ‘Amityville: The Awakening’ and ‘Mena’ starring Tom Cruise.
Little is known about the plot of the forthcoming sequel other than the return of cast members Theo James and Charles Dance as Selene’s ally David and the vampire leader Thomas respectively.
Also joining the cast are Tobias Manzies and Lara Pulver as a new Lycan leader and an ambitious new vampire.
Anna Foerster, known for her cinematography on blockbusters such as ‘Independence Day’, ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ and ‘White House Down’, is making her directional debut with the fifth ‘Underworld’ film.
So far the franchise has amassed $460 million worldwide at the box office.
