Kamille feels protective over December 10 after death of Liam Payne

Kamille feels protective over for Simon Cowell’s new boyband December 10 after the death of Liam Payne.

The 37-year-old songwriter – who has penned tunes for the likes of Little Mix, Kylie Minogue and Dua Lipa – has worked with Ed Sheeran and Steve Mac on a new song for the group, which was put together as part of the media mogul’s new Netflix special The Next Act.

She told the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column: “For us at the forefront, [it’s] about the care for the band and safeguarding, and Simon cares really deeply for people he works with.

“There’s so much safeguarding and processes in place that were there to look after the band.

“And obviously we were all really devastated by the loss of Liam.”

Payne – who rose to fame on The Factor UK in 2010 after Simon put him together in One Direction alongside Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik – died in October 2024 age 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Kamille said: “I think is just kind of puts everything into perspective for everyone really, to just make sure that at the forefront, one, they were being taken care of, and everyone was really happy.”

Kamille also revealed how as a songwriter for other artists, she often finds that her role involves “a lot of checking in” to make sure they’re doing ok.

She explained: “I feel like I’m their big sister at the moment, so I’m always just giving them so much advice.

“They came over to my house the other day and we were just talking about how they’re feeling and what they’re up to and that’s really, really important for me.

“I think I get to do a lot of that when I write for artists. I get to do a lot of checking in.”
