Justin Lin ready to make Lone Wolf and Cub adaptation

Justin Lin is very excited to finally get to work on his ‘Lone Wolf and Cub’ adaptation.
The 44-year-old director has been busy for the last 18 months shooting and now promoting sci-fi sequel ‘Star Trek Beyond’, and once he’s done with his promotional duties he will be giving his full attention to his big screen adaptation of the Manga comic book story.
Speaking to Empire, Lin said: "For the last year and a half I’ve been on this ‘Star Trek’ detour, the greatest detour of my career. But I’m excited because ‘Lone Wolf and Cub’ is one of many projects that I can’t wait to go back and revisit in the next two weeks when we’re done with all the press."
The ‘Lone Wolf and Cub’ comic was first published in 1970 and is widely regarded as a classic of the Manga genre.
The tale tells an epic, historic story of shogun assassins, and seven films have been made of the comic in his native Japan, but this movie will be a Hollywood first and Lin believes the time is right.
Lin – who was first attached to the project in 2012 – said: "This is the best time to make a movie like ‘Lone Wolf and Cub’ – and to be able to really embrace the spirit and the essence of what makes it great."
The director also suggested that his adaptation will feature an all Asian cast.
He said: "Five-to-10 years ago, they would have wanted Keanu Reeves to play the dad … I think the cool thing about it is that filmmaking has gone global. There’s many ways to make a movie and I think Hollywood has to evolve."
