Justin Bieber’s driving under the influence (DUI) case has been delayed until August.
The 20-year-old singer’s lawyer Mark Shapiro and prosecutor David Gilbert have requested another three weeks to work out a plea deal on charges he was drink-driving and resisted arrest in Miami earlier this year.
Miami-Dade County Judge William Altfield agreed with the request and has scheduled the hearing for August 5.
The lawyers will inform the judge in three weeks how the plea negotiations are progressing and, if deemed necessary, set a trial date to settle the case.
The ‘Baby’ hitmaker was detained by police on January 23 after he was allegedly caught drag racing with his friend R&B singer Khalil Amir Sharieff.
An alcohol test conducted at the time of his arrest found Justin to be below Florida’s 0.02 legal limit for underage drivers, but a urine test showed the presence of marijuana and anti-anxiety drug Xanax in his body.
He was also charged with driving with an expired licence.
