June Brown and Natalie Cassidy stripped off together in a hot tub

June Brown and Natalie Cassidy once stripped off together in a hot tub.

The ‘EastEnders’ co-stars – known for their roles as Dot Cotton and Sonia Fowler on the BBC soap – have often been away on holiday together over the years, and Natalie admitted the 93-year-old actress has always been game for a laugh.

Appearing on tonight’s (01.09.20) episode of ‘EastEnders: Secrets From The Square’, the 37-year-old star said: "We have had so many lovely evenings together.

"We went to Malta once and we were naked in the hot tub together. We would go to nightclubs. She was very lively and still is."

Earlier this year, June revealed she had left the role of Dot "for good" after 35 years on the show, and she snubbed the opportunity for a retainer contract which would have allowed her to return in the future.

She explained at the time: "I don’t want a retainer for ‘EastEnders’, I’ve left. I’ve left for good. I’ve sent her off to Ireland where she’ll stay. I’ve left ‘EastEnders.’ "

Meanwhile, Natalie also told ‘Secrets From The Square’ host Stacey Dooley about her interactions with Dame Barbara Windsor, who played Queen Vic landlady Peggy Mitchell for over two decades and is now battling Alzheimer’s.

Reflecting on her presence on set, she said: "If you were late or weren’t in she’d have a go at you. And that stuck with us.

"She was amazing… [an] icon wandering around like a tiny ball of energy."

Whitney Dean actress Shona McGarty agreed, adding: "She said ‘You can’t be late, dear’. And she did it in such a lovely way, I was never late again."
