Julianne Moore feels positive for Hollywood

Julianne Moore says there are "definitely changes happening" for women in Hollywood.
The ‘Still Alice’ star is confident the industry is going in the right direction and says the important thing is to increase the number of women in filmmaker roles.
She said: "There are definitely changes happening. This movie is indicative of that. When you talk about diversity in film, the only way you’re able to achieve it is by broadening the diversity of the creators, the writers and directors.
"You don’t say to a bunch of guys, ‘Hey, you should write some more stories about women, as our experiences are so subjective. My husband [filmmaker Bart Freundlich] writes his own stories; he doesn’t write stories about women. That’s not where his creative impulse comes from."
And the 55-year-old actress – who has Caleb, 18, and Liv, 14, with Bart – was honoured to win a Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role Oscar for her role in ‘Still Alice’ in 2015.
She told Australia’s Sunday Style magazine: "You still feel like you’re on pins and needles. But it felt great [to win]. It’s lovely. It’s a wonderful, wonderful honour. I always say you can’t take that stuff for granted. It’s an industry award and it means that all these people in your business had to bother to tick the box next to your name."
Meanwhile, Julianne insists fame hasn’t changed her as she went to buy her weekly food shop the day after winning an Academy Award.
When asked if her life has changed since her Oscar win, she said: "You know what, it really hasn’t changed at all. I swear it was the most beautiful, amazing, exciting, surreal night that went on and on and I made sure it did because I didn’t want it to end.
"You want to remember it because it’s a very special moment. But then I was back on a plane to New York first thing – I went home to be a mom, arranging pick-up times and basketball and getting the groceries for the next week."
