Julian Fellowes binge-watching TV shows during lockdown

Julian Fellowes has been binge-watching ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Mad Men’ during lockdown.
The ‘Downtown Abbey’ creator has been enjoying watching several TV series, including the medical drama and the US period drama, but admitted he gets sad when he’s finished a show and always tries to buy them on DVD, so he is "in control" of how many episodes he watches at a time in a bid to make them last longer.
He said: "I’ve done quite a lot of … watching television because, you know, your whole social life, by definition, has vanished and been put to sleep.
"I like long series, and I’ve just just gotten up to date with ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, which of course saddens me because I hate it when I’ve finished watching them. I loved it.
"I have to be sort of in control of it, so I have to buy it on DVD.
"And then I can watch it as much or as little as I like.
"I need that kind of power over it."
The 70-year-old actor loves getting "swept up" in the characters’ "predicament" and insisted it’s not possible to do that with movies.
He continued: "’Mad Men’, ‘The West Wing’, and ‘The Good Wife’: I just love that whole business of getting involved with these people who, of course, you don’t know.
"I’m not mad, I don’t think I do know them, but nevertheless, you get sort of swept up in their predicament in a way that a one-off film doesn’t quite give you."
The ‘Belgravia’ writer has enjoyed his time self-isolating with his wife, Emma Kitchener, and their son Peregrine, 29, and admitted his time at home has been great for "decluttering" his mind.
He added to Variety: "I’m just here with my wife and son, and it’s kind of a bonus in certain ways for decluttering your mind."
