Judge Rinder trekking across frozen Mongolian lake for Sport Relief

Judge Robert Rinder will trek 100 miles across a frozen Mongolian lake for ‘Sport Relief’.
The 41-year-old TV star will join BBC Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw – plus six other celebrities still to be announced – for a four-day challenge seeing them cycle, skate and walk across Lake Khovsgol.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I always do my best to complete any task I’m doing. And that really matters to me. In fact, it’s hugely important that I finish…
"I’m totally bloody minded and I genuinely delight … in improving the mood, in others around me."
However, Rinder has admitted he has "no survival skills whatsoever" as he prepares to make his way across the lake, which freezes during winter.
He said: "Oh my gosh! I have no survival skills whatsoever. At all. Nothing! No transferable skills.
"In the event things go wrong. I’ll have to be a hostage … I can’t put a tent up. I can’t cook. But I’m thinking of bringing my own pom-poms!"
The trek – which is aiming to ‘break the ice’ on mental health issues – will be filming for BBC One documentary ‘Sport Relief: On Thin Ice’.
While Rinder thinks his demeanour could help the other celebrities cope in extreme conditions, he suggested his sense of humour could wear thin.
He added: "After day three, I think people will probably get bored… people will probably get bored of my humour anyway."
‘Sport Relief’ will air on March 13 on BBC One, with the charity telethon also raising money for issues like child poverty.
