Judge Rinder says his grandad ‘wasn’t ready to go’

Judge Rinder’s grandad "wasn’t ready to go" before he died from coronavirus aged 92.
The 41-year-old TV star announced the passing of his beloved grandad on ‘This Morning’ last week, and he’s now opened up about his heartbreak, hailing his grandad as "one of life’s good people".
The judge – whose real name is Robert Rinder – told The Sun newspaper: "It’s such a strange thing the way we qualitatively assess old people.
"He wasn’t ready to go, with trying to stay alive for this documentary I’ve made about his family that was due to be out in May, which of course has had to be moved now, and also for my nephew’s Bar Mitzvah.
"Every month he would talk about what he was living for. One of life’s good people."
The upcoming documentary will feature a tribute to Robert’s grandad.
He explained: "He did get to see his part, which is nice and such a privilege to be able to do that for him as well."
Robert recently paid tribute to his grandad in a touching post on Twitter.
The TV star – who began hosting the reality courtroom series ‘Judge Rinder’ in 2014 – wrote on the micro-blogging platform: "Pappa Harry. Your beautiful wisdom ‘for every painful story there are a thousand reasons to rejoice,’ is my most precious gift.
"People recover every day & our communities are stronger & more supportive. Bless you for choosing love over despair. RIP. (sic)"
Robert also paid tribute to his grandad on ‘This Morning’.
He shared: "I love him very much. It’s been a challenging time, but I remember him in that positive way.
"We can choose to drown ourselves in the negativity and horror or choose to galvanise each other."
