Joseph Fiennes to star in Strangerland

Joseph Fiennes has joined the cast of ‘Strangerland’.

The 43-year-old actor is set to star as Nicole Kidman’s husband in the upcoming mystery drama, which will follow them as their lives unravel after their two teenage children go missing in the desert, and ‘The Matrix’ star Hugo Weaving will play the policeman leading the investigation, Variety reports.

Guy Pearce – who appeared in ‘Iron Man 3’ last year – had previously been announced as the actor taking on the role of the husband but it has now been confirmed that ‘Camelot’ actor, Fiennes, will star and shooting is expected to begin in Kidman’s native Australia this week.

Also included in the ‘Strangerland’ cast are Lisa Flanagan, Meyne Wyatt, Nicholas Hamilton and Maddison Brown.

Dragonfly Pictures’ Naomi Wenck and Fastnet Films’ Macdara Kelleher will be producing the film written by Fiona Seres and Michael Kinirons.

While Worldview Entertainment’s Christopher Woodrow, Molly Conners, Maria Cestone and Sarah E. Johnson are executive producing alongside Transmission Film’s managing directors Andrew Mackie and Richard Payten.

Locations where filming is set to take place include Sydney, Broken Hill and Canowindra.
