Jorgie Porter was ‘scared’ returning to Hollyoaks

Jorgie Porter was so "scared" driving back to the ‘Hollyoaks’ set she couldn’t even pick a song to listen to.

The 32-year-old actress is to reprise her role as Theresa McQueen this autumn, in time for the Channel 4 soap’s 25th birthday in October, but she was nervous about returning to the set five years after she previously played the character.

She said: "The drive in was a bit scary – I couldn’t even pick a tune to listen to.

"But as soon as I was on set and back in character it was fine.

"It was like I’d never left. The crew especially greeted me as normal – they could see I hadn’t changed.

"That was the best feeling, being accepted back into the fold. Everyone kept telling me they missed me.

"It was the best sentence to hear. Things have changed, though.

"I have to do my own make-up now. That was a lesson in itself – I learned so many new tricks."

But Jorgie has admitted she isn’t sure why she was so nervous about heading back to the set, and felt as though she had "never been away" as soon as she slipped Theresa’s heels on again.

She added to new! magazine: "I don’t know what I was flapping about – I think I made it too big a deal in my head as it was completely fine.

"Once I got my hair, make-up and heels on, I tottered around the village and it all came flooding back.

"I was straight back to it, like I’d never been away."

Jorgie will be involved in a big plot involving the McQueens leading up to the show’s 25th birthday.

Confirming her return yesterday (07.09.20), she said: "I was excited, but obviously a bit nervous. What if Theresa has gone out of my body and my mind?

"And the anticipation of coming back has taken so long because of lockdown, but coming back felt just like home and as if I haven’t even been away for five minutes."
