Jonathan Wrather can’t speak to in-laws

Jonathan Wrather has never had a "proper conversation" with his father-in-law.
The ‘Emmerdale’ star – who plays manipulative Pierce Harris in the soap – is desperately trying to learn German because his wife Catherine was born and raised in the Western European country and has admitted there’s a language barrier between him and his in laws.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’ on Friday (10.03.17), he explained: "I’m teaching myself German at the moment. My wife is German and I haven’t learnt any German yet. All her family speak excellent English except, he won’t mind me saying this, her dad can’t. I’ve never actually had a proper conversation with my father-in-law. "
The loved-up couple have two young children together and were riddled with anxiety a few weeks ago when their baby daughter was rushed to hospital with bronchiolitis.
He explained: "Well, this was only a few weeks ago, she got bronchiolitis – It’s quite common in young babies – so her airways were all inflamed so she had great difficulty breathing. It was terrifying, as you can imagine, so she ended up being in hospital. She was looked after amazingly well at Macclesfield [Cheshire] … It’s terrifying to walk in and see all these tubes going into her. She’s fine now, she’s great, really good."
