Jon Favreau to appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming

Jon Favreau is set to reprise his ‘Iron Man’ character for the upcoming ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ film.
The 49-year-old actor played Happy Hogan – Iron Man’s personal driver – in the first three films in the franchise, and he will resurrect his alter ego for the webslinger’s first full feature film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Robert Downey Jr. played Tony Stark and Iron Man in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ which marked Tom Holland’s debut as Spider-Man, but Favreau’s character was absent from that film.
The revelation comes after several other actors have been confirmed for the movie, including Michael Keaton as villain Vulture, Logan Marshall-Green as another baddie, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May once again and Zendaya whose casting as Mary Jane Watson has caused outrage among many comic book fans unhappy that an actress with African/American heritage will be portraying a character traditionally depicted as white and red-headed.
‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ is currently filming in Atlanta and is pencilled in for a 7 July 2017 release date.
Meanwhile, Favreau has been having huge box office success with Disney’s new version of ‘The Jungle Book’, which he directed.
In addition to his acting role, Favreau has also taken on many production duties for Marvel Cinematic Universe films.
He has already acted as executive producer on ‘The Avengers’ and ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’ and he will repeat that role for the forthcoming ‘Avengers Infinity War – Part 1’ and the as-yet untitled sequel.
