John Simm doesn’t think Trauma sequel would work

John Simm has ruled out a second series of ‘Trauma’.
The 48-year-old actor played dad Dan Bowker in ITV’s three part drama, which saw his character pursuing a surgeon (Adrian Lester) who was responsible for the death of his son.
Now, the leading man has played down the idea of another run because he feels it would be too unfair on Dan to put him through any more pain.
He told Digital Spy: "I think Trauma would be a no [to returning] because it would be difficult to revisit.
"He’s an everyman, an ordinary guy – you can’t have anything else happen to him, as it would be unfair."
However, the former ‘Life On Mars’ star did admit he would be open to the idea of reviving supernatural drama ‘Life on Mars’ 11 years after he last played police officer Sam Tyler.
He pointed to his ‘Doctor Who’ return last year as The Master – seven years after his previous appearance – and revealed it’s certainly a possibility.
He added: "I’d certainly consider it! It could end up like ‘Doctor Who’ – I never thought that was going to happen again and then … time travel!"
In the meantime, John will be back on the small screen with ITV in the broadcaster’s upcoming eight part thriller ‘Strangers’.
The new show – which starts next week – sees him star as Jonah, a man whose world as he knows it comes crashing down after his wife dies in Hong Kong and it’s revealed she was leading a secret double life.
‘Strangers’ begins on Monday September 10 at 9pm on ITV.
