John Legend has teased his musical comeback.
The 37-year-old musician dropped new single ‘Love Me Now’ last week and has now hinted that his first album in three years, ‘Darkness & Light’, will arrive soon.
He hinted: "The album’s coming real soon, nothing is certain but I have an inkling of the date."
The ‘All of Me’ hitmaker has taken some time out from making music to film scenes for the forthcoming movie ‘La La Land’, which stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, but has assured fans he will always put music first.
He told the Daily Star newspaper: "For me, music still comes first. I love working with my production company.
"I don’t want to do a lot of acting, but I think there are times when some of the stuff we are producing calls for me to be involved as an actor in it as well. So I’ll get involved in that way but most of the time I’m just going to be making music and going out on the road."
The hunky pop star also said that he has no plans to stop putting records out as he still feels it is a "powerful" format despite being outdated by streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music.
He said: "For me, I still love the format of the album, as it gives you a chance to live in an artist’s vision for 45 minutes to an hour, I think that’s still such a powerful experience to have."
John also quipped that he was penned lyrics whilst sitting on the toilet.
He laughed "I’ve definitely written some lyrics on the toilet, for sure."
And the new album doesn’t shy away from the odd collaboration either, with names such as Chance the Rapper, Alabama Shakes, Miguel, and Blake Mills all securing guest spots on the LP.
‘Darkness & Light’ is the follow-up to 2013’s ‘Love in the Future’.
