John Barrowman’s husband is reluctant to start a family

John Barrowman would "really like to have a child" with husband Scott Gill.
The 51-year-old actor wants to grow his family with partner of 22 years but says Scott, 55 is reluctant to have children and he wants them both to be on board with the idea of adoption or surrogacy so he doesn’t feel as if he is "imposing".
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Loose Women’ on Friday (25.05.18), he said: "We still talk about it, I kind of thought it about it a lot, I would really like to have a child, but I think Scott…he’s like ‘you go ahead and do it, I’ll support you’ and I’m like ‘Hun, it doesn’t work that way’, it’s not like adopting a pet or something where you just go ‘oh isn’t it cute’ and you just come home with it, you have to both be part of the process and it can’t be something that one does and the other just jumps in.
"That’s the only thing that’s kind of stopping me, because I want him to be right there with it, part of it, because otherwise it feels like I’m imposing it."
And the former ‘Doctor Who’ star said he realised he wanted to have a baby when he went in for a surgery to remove his appendix, and the fear of death left him worrying what legacy he has "to leave behind".
He explained: "I love kids, and my nieces and nephews I’ve always treated like they were mine when they come and stay with us and had a wild time, but I guess it’s kind of when I had that moment (of realising I wanted a child) it was the point where I was getting ready to be put under anaesthetic and they basically made you sign a paper in case you die, and I thought, ‘what have I got to leave behind?’".
