John Barrowman hosting Torchwood watch party

John Barrowman is holding a ‘Torchwood’ watch party.
The 53-year-old actor – who played Captain Jack Harkness in the BBC One show from 2006 and 2011 – wants to help people through lockdown and self-isolation by watching an episode of the sci-fi TV series along with his fans.
He wrote on Instagram: "So the votes came in and the episode that was chosen to be watched on Thursday, April 2, for the worldwide ‘Torchwood’ watching session, shall we call it? It was season one episode 12, Captain Jack Harkness. We press the play button together, and we watch – I will be commentating here on Instagram Live, and I’ll also be tweeting on Twitter."
Chris Chibnall previously confessed he is hopeful for a ‘Torchwood’ revival after John returned to ‘Doctor Who’ earlier this year.
Speaking at the time, he said: "I think it’s just great to have Jack back in the Whoniverse and I’d definitely be one of the first viewers for another ‘Torchwood’."
John has been campaigning to bring back the immortal time agent for several years, and finally got his wish this series, when Captain Jack appeared to deliver a message to The Doctor, who is currently played by Jodie Whittaker.
Speaking about his comeback before the episode aired, John said: "It feels absolutely amazing. I’ve always been holding the torch to eventually bring Jack back, because I know the love that the fanbase and the Whovians around the world have for him. Without giving too much of the story away, it’s the same Jack you know. He’s flirtatious, he’s sassy, he’s also determined. So hallelujah – Jack is back!"
John is remaining tight-lipped about his character’s future on the show, but thinks it’s "about time" the fan favourite stuck around.
He said: "Who knows what the decisions were and why they were made? But I’m glad they were made, and if I can say so personally – it’s about time."
