John Barrowman hints at Holby City return

John Barrowman looks set for another ‘Holby City’ stint.

The 53-year-old actor will make his debut on the BBC medical drama as Dr. Drew Nicholson-Heath tonight (28.07.20), and the star has hinted he could make another appearance, as the producers have teased his character’s suspicious past.

Appearing on ‘Lorraine’ on Tuesday, he said: "Drew Nicholson-Heath, he’s a good Scotsman. We don’t know if he’s gonna be a good guy or a bad guy, but through the grapevine, he might be coming back."

Drew joins the hospital as a consultant looking to poach doctors for a large hospital in Dubai, but it seems he has a history with fellow consultant Ange Godard, who is played by Dawn Steele.

Explaining his character, John said: "He’s a consultant, and he’s trying to poach for a very large hospital in Dubai. That’s where he has made his money. That’s why he is doing what he’s doing because he’s broke because he’s had so many divorces over the years.

"It’s interesting because everyone thinks he’s coming into poach but he actually ends up finding out some really interesting information about someone in the hospital that’s not doing what they’re supposed too."

Should John return to the show at a later date, it could have something to do with Drew’s past with Ange.

He added: "We’re not sure if they just had a relationship or if she was one of the previous wives. That hasn’t been delved into yet. The one thing they said when I was on was they wanted to make sure our chemistry was good together, so if the time came for him to return, there’s something to tease the audience with that we can build on later."
