Joey Essex ‘staying away from the birds’ after split

Joey Essex is having a break from romance after his recent breakup.
The 29-year-old star – who split from former flame Lorena Medina earlier this year – revealed he is enjoying being on his own during the coronavirus lockdown, and besides a bit of flirting he is happy without a relationship for the time being.
Speaking to ITV’s ‘This Morning’ hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on Monday (04.05.20), he said: "I’m trying to stay away from the birds at the minute…
"Maybe sliding in DMs and all that."
After pushing himself on Channel 4’s ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’, Joey has also learned a lot about himself, and he feels ready to focus on himself rather than relying on other people.
He explained: "I feel a lot more content, if that’s the word. I feel a lot more like I can be on my own.
"I ain’t depending on my mates, I ain’t depending on being around people. I’ve been on my own for a long time – I mean, I’ve had no choice but to be [contented]."
The former ‘TOWIE’ star has been enjoying lockdown because it’s given him the opportunity to unwind, be he admitted he’s been missing his loved ones.
He added: "Yeah, I’m missing my dad. It is what it is.
"I FaceTime my nan near enough every day, and just speak to everyone over FaceTime. It’s all you can do at this moment in time."
Reflecting on ‘Who Dares Wins’, Joey revealed he found Ant Middleton’s endurance show "so difficult" to get through.
He said: "It’s so difficult… It looks terrible on TV but when you’re there, even to get from where we sleep just to get to the car with soggy boots, we’re freezing cold, our socks are always wet. The whole thing is just horrific, every minute of the day."
