Joe Thomas admits he is a romantic boyfriend.
‘The Inbetweeners 2’ star – who is in a long-term relationship with actress Hannah Tointon – insists he’s nothing like his awkward character Simon from the movie and always tries to impress his girlfriend.
When asked if he is a romantic guy, he replied: "I think I am. I’ve tended to have quite serious, long-term monogamous relationships. Well, obviously they’ve been monogamous – I’m such a romantic I’d only ever have sex with one girlfriend at a time…
"I’ve never had the cojones to be a player, and I don’t know any men who do. Some imply they see lots of girls, and never see them again after one night, but I don’t know if that’s actually true."
Joe – who met Hannah when she played his character Simon’s girlfriend in ‘The Inbetweeners’ TV show – believes the most important part of any relationship is to be able to laugh together.
The 30-year-old actor says humour can allow couple to get over some of the awkward aspects of being part of a couple.
Speaking in the September issue of Cosmopolitan magazine (Cosopolitan.co.uk), he revealed: "A sense of humour is pretty much my favourite quality in any person. There’s a lot of embarrassment involved in relationships and, if you’ve got a sense of humour, you can skirt around those bits. It becomes a way of making somebody feel comfortable. You have to accept that if you’re a man, you’re a bit of a fool, and a sense of humour is a way of taking responsibility for your own awkwardness and patheticness."
